Loosing yourself in Parenthood

It has been a year and a half since I have opened this blog.

HOW!!!

I have jumped into motherhood head on. It has been a complete whirlwind and I have loved every minute of it.

But have I lost myself?

Taking care of a child is all consuming. We want to be the best parent we possibly can and that means putting everything we have into it… Right?

Honestly, as I evaluate the past year and am getting back into work I see that as my children grow up, I don’t want them thinking that loosing yourself when you have kids is normal. I want them to recognize that while your life changes, you are still you and deserve to have your passions and preferences.

Now recognizing this, I see that to get this across to them I must show by example.

So going into 2023 (holy crap 2023!) I am going to make a 1% change daily to reimplement my passions.

Just this past week, I finally went to a barrel race (horse riding event)! Barrel racing is my passion and if I admit it to myself, I haven’t raced since before I was pregnant. (2020!!!) That is a VERY long time to keep myself from a passion.

So, if you are a parent who has been throwing everything you have into your children, please take this one message from this post…

YOU ARE DOING A DISSERVICE TO YOURSELF AND YOUR CHILDREN BY NOT FOLLOWING YOUR PASSION!

It is a good thing for them to see you doing something you love!

I am jumping into 2023 trying to emulate what I would love to see for my children as they go through life.
