Doing hard things 2021

Doing hard things part 2.

We have made it to the year 2021! Congratulations. Make sure to pat yourself on the back for that fact! I’m proud of us.

Now that we have made it here, we need to put thought into who we want to be this year and what kind of world we want to create.

One of my major goals for 2021 is to make good on the promises I make to myself on a consistent basis.

While I don’t like to admit this, I struggle with showing up for myself. I struggle with doing things that benefit me and my life.

So doing one hard thing each day has been helping me stay accountable on a small scale so I might continually graduate to harder actions and end up creating habits that serve me.

So, for the next few months, I will be implementing the following hard things:

Get dressed/work ready. I work from home for the most part right now, and I have found it very easy to wear PJs all day everyday. While my boobs enjoy the reprieve from constant bra wear, my self confidence has taken a few hits.

Exercise! I am one of those people who really doesn’t enjoy exercise. I don’t like the burn or the sweat or the breathing hard. But I do like how I feel after I exert myself consistently. I have gained enough weight this past year so that most of my cloths no longer fit, and I hate the feeling of knowing that I am not as strong as I once was. So I’m changing that.

Deep clean any one room in my house. Consistently. I have learned that a cluttered space creates a cluttered mind, and that is not where I want to be. So by tackling it a little at a time, I can create a space that’s better for my mental health.

Meditate. Most of my troubles come from mental health struggles. By using breath work and meditation, I can fight back against my own brain and move forward with a clearer head. Most people don’t realize what some deep breaths can actually do for a person.

Drink 4L of water throughout the day. I do not drink enough fluids during the day and as most of us know, this affects more than we can even wrap our heads around. So in 2021, I am trying to keep myself more hydrated.

Look at myself in the mirror and name five things that I love about myself. I haven’t tried this one yet, and to be honest I’m kind of scared. I have read that this can be a powerful tool to increase self love, so we are trying it.

Take an hour minimum to myself for self care each week. I will have a bath or do a face mask. Something that makes me feel relaxed and peaceful. I rarely allow myself that pleasure.

Try this out for yourself and see if doing one hard thing a day, consistently, can change your life. It can be as simple as wearing matching socks or telling yourself that you are worthy. I know that it is helping me get out of my most recent slump, maybe it’ll work for you too.
